Tree of the Week: Pagsahingin

Scientific Name: Canarium asperum

The Pagsahingin is an endemic tree in the Philippines. Its tapped resin is sold as Manila Elemi, which is used in the manufacturing of paint, varnishes, perfumes, incense, aromatherapy and pharmaceutical products. Its resin is also used as illuminant while its wood is used for light interior works, furniture, veneer, plywood, agricultural implements, musical instruments, boxes, crates and toys.
